Cat-Life for Source
Easily the most complicated of all of the Cat-Life versions, CLS also has the least public information at this time. In summary, Cat-Life for Source will put players into the mind and body of a pet cat in Black Mesa during the resonance cascade.
This mod will be fairly grand in scope compared to CL GS. Expect to explore for secrets and even find little weaponized rewards for exploring.
This mod will not officially begin development until CL GS is released.
What the Future Holds
So finally, our history is not only caught up to the present, but now we look forward to the future.
Plans for a source version of Cat-Life began back in the pre-2007 days. The entire project was switched to Source for a time. But no progress was made. Friendly Garg wanted to see it progress, but he found no real help.
When BiGToM took over the project, he switched it back to GoldSrc.
As that project neared alpha and beta states, I began organizing a Source version of the project and a sequel myself.
The plans are now on hold until CL GS is completed. I simply see no need to move beyond this point until the GoldSrc project is done. We can then begin building a team.
Plans for CL S include using the Source engine to tell a more in-depth story then is currently possible for CL GS. Plans also include multiple paths through certain areas, multiple endings, and secret levels.
The larger story will of course end in a similar place to CL GS. Then, through some creative writing solutions, CL S will continue the story in City 17. Yes, that cat. No, he wasn’t actually mutilated… at least, not in the story I have planned. It’s all in what we see and some outside interference.
I would love to see these projects take off. But for now we wait.
